What a fantastic experience with Hereford Canoes yesterday. We wanted to do something special for my 50th birthday and the three quarter day experience was most definitely that! Andy was incredibly professional, friendly and kind, and has an infectious enthusiasm for the river. My husband and I have taken a few canoe trips in the last few years, including on the Wye, and would most definitely rate this one as the best - pitched perfectly in terms of helpful guidance and letting you feel free to explore the river, combined with a genuine sense of care for each client. From our first telephone call a few months ago to dropping us safely back to our accommodation after our 2 days of canoeing. The organisation and communication is excellent. The trip itself was was a wonderful experience. We saw Kingfishers, buzzards, red kites and so much wildlife. The canoeing was surprisingly easy (both first timers). RUBY MAGUIRE13 September 2026Andy is amazing!! 13 of us canoed for 2 days to celebrate a birthday and everything was flawlessly organised. Most of our group were novices but we all felt very safe thanks to the safety talks given. Andy managed to transport all our belongings between each campsite (we don’t pack light) and it was no problem at all, we were all assured our luggage was left in safe places and it was! The river Wye and Herefordshire in general is beautiful but you get a completely different experience whilst canoeing, you can see things from the river in a different perspective including lots of wildlife. Since they had extra space on their bus and trailer, they arranged to transport us and our gear back upriver to our starting point. BOB HARRISON8 September 2026Fantastic canoe hire company on the river Wye. Andy was a great help to use and advised on routes. He was very helpful and easy going. The pickup in Ross on Wye was easy and the drive back to base only took a few minutes. They have lots of kit, a safe launch point with plenty of parking on site. Can't recommend them enough. For a great day out on the river from a company I'd definitely recommend. We saw kingfisher, heron and even a few fish jumping. You pass through beautiful quite countryside which plenty of opportunities to stop for a picnic along the way.+6Posted on Google

R J17 September 2026Best Part of the Wye The trip from Lucksall to Hoarwithy was our fifth canoe journey of the summer and easily the best. This part of the Wye is so quiet & we didn't see anyone for miles, but it's full of wildlife (birds). We've used 4 different canoe hire companies on the Wye, all were good, but Hereford Canoe Hire were probably the best giving lots of instruction, canoeing tips, maps/wildlife charts & the canoes even had cup holders! Parking was only £3 all day and no additional launch fees to pay. After the canoe trip, it's worth going to see the Italian style church tower in Hoarwithy, it's like something out of Tuscany!Posted on Tripadvisor

We hired two 2-person canoes, we left our car at Tresseck Farm, were transported by minibus to the starting point at Lucksall, then paddled back to Hoarwithy taking a bit more than 2.5 hours. ROGER B7 September 20261 retiree and 5 working guys - canoeing trip down the Wye. Excellent experience from sart to finish - the team at HCH really look after you and go to extreme lengths to ensure that you have a good time, whilst ensuring you have the right amount of knowledge to navigate the river safely in their canoes. Travelling down the Wye, you experience a sureal calm where you can easily forget the hassles of everyday life. Abundance of wildlife during our trip (egrets, cormorrants, herons, buzzards, red kite). Took a friend from New Zealand for a short stay in Hereford and we went for the 8.5mile Luckshall to Hoarwithy option, loved every minute of it, we will be back to try the full day to Ross next time. MCINTYREKATE7 September 2026Fantastically chilled canoe experience We were staying at the Tresseck Campsite and I had seen the link from their website and thought it looked fun. Andy was awesome, clearly and sensibly explained the various safety procedures, he read the group to see how much he needed to explain or not. We started off at Lucksall and ended down back at our camp in Hoarwithy, the trip was lovely. Andy gave us a map which detailed various points along the trip showing points of focus to make sure the trip went smoothly. They provided canoes, buoyancy aids, oars and maps, and made it so easy for us to have a nice time on the river as we never had to worry about any of the logistics. They’re super friendly and accommodating. We did a full day and a 3/4 day over a weekend. It sounds like a lot of miles but we weren’t rushed and could enjoy the paddle. PHIL R7 September 2026Totally recommend this trip We thoroughly enjoyed our canoe trip on the river Wye thanks to Andy and his team. We met at Tresseck campsite, £3 to pay for all day parking, there is a cafe and toilets, and were given a complete safety briefing. We were then driven to Lucksall campsite about 8.5 miles away (more toilets there if you need them) and from there we went downstream, our belongings in a waterproof drum. Each canoe takes 2 people and there is a centre seat for a third person but not sure how comfortable it would be. It took my wife and me about 2 hours to finish but we did put a bit of effort in, if you just drift downstream it would take 3-4 hours. We had a map and very clear instructions. Scenery was beautiful and it was so quiet, just us and the swans, ducks and herons. Totally recommend this trip!Posted on Tripadvisor
